Great smiles greeted Willy the Walrus and Gail at Stuart Place Elementary School yesterday. Six classes of first graders and their teachers learned about dental plaque and the role it plays in contributing to dental decay.
Willy demonstrated proper brushing techniques and showed the students how to floss.
Follow-up grade-level activity sheets were provided to reinforce the “Healthy Teeth = Happy Teeth” Willy Presentation.
Willy and Gail enjoyed meeting the children and their teachers as well as Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District retired Assistant Superintendent Trica Morrow.
Here are some of the comments about the presentation:
“Fun and informative! The children learned so much about dental hygiene in a fun way.”
Tricia Morrow, retired Assistant Superintendent, Harlingen CISD
