A crown is sometimes termed a “cap” or” “jacket”.
A crown will restore a broken, heavily filled or cracked tooth to its original size, shape and tooth color. A crown may be recommended after root canal therapy has been completed, as the tooth tends to become brittle and is more apt to fracture.
A crown can strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure and improve the appearance of your teeth. With the advances in technology we now have the ability to build these crowns with no metal present at all.
Harlingen Family Dentistry can now provide a fast, one-day solution for new ceramic crowns, veneers, onlays and inlays with the CEREC dental restoration system. It is fast.
The CEREC system uses a variety of computer assisted technologies to quickly take a 3D scan of your teeth to determine the shape and size of your restoration. Then once your dentist has finalized the restoration design, using the special CEREC process, it is milled right in our office. It is then ready for placement. All in one visit.
No gooey impressions!
